I'M A CHARACTERTM
GIVING AT-RISK YOUTH THE TOOLS TO BECOME A PERSON OF CHARACTER
WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION AT I'M A CHARACTERTM IS TO IMPROVE THE LIFE SKILLS FOR AT-RISK YOUTH AND TEACH THE BASIC SKILLS NEEDED TO INCREASE THEIR CAPABILITY TO ENTER INTO SOCIETY AND THE WORK FORCE WHILE ALSO TEACHING THEM TO BECOME A PERSON OF CHARACTER.
What We Stand For

I’m A Character™ was developed by Founder Robert “Smokey” Page. By taking 20 words that can be used to describe a “Man of Character” we focus each of the 24 sessions on one of these words, what they mean, and how we can incorporate this word into our daily lives. We bring in local business owners and professionals to teach the attendees real-life usable skills to assist them in entering into the work force. Starting off being a character, and ending the program having character.
Founder, Robert “Smokey” Page has lived in Griffin since 1967. He got his nickname “Smokey” at age 9 playing baseball in Griffin by Coach Otis Cobb. He resides in Griffin with his wife of 31 years, Trish. They have a 26-year-old daughter, Tori. He has coached youth sports, he is a past board of directors for McIntosh Trail, Founded Mowing with a Meaning- a 501c3 Cancer Organization, and developed C-POP- a silt fence material that is sold nationwide.
Being a local entrepreneur and business owner, he sees the younger generation lacks ability, promptness, appearance, general knowledge, and work ethics. Over the past couple of years he has mentored several young men who are now owning their own businesses or remain gainfully employed and self-sufficient. This success with these young men prompted him to found “I’m A Character™” and reach out to the local community in an attempt to offer the same opportunity to at-risk youth.
